Another amazing quit lit that I loved from start to finish。 So insightful, funny, and relatable。。。 I’m already looking forward to picking this one up again in the future。

Ironically, I ordered this book when I was painfully hungover and experiencing an episode of ‘The Fear’。 As a 20 year old, I have come to question my relationship with alcohol but never felt as if there were other people similar to me who didn’t drink but were still living normal lives and doing the usual things young people do。 This book definitely satisfied my sober curiosity and changed my opinions of sobriety and the way I now think about alcohol。 Even if you are only curious it’s very inter Ironically, I ordered this book when I was painfully hungover and experiencing an episode of ‘The Fear’。 As a 20 year old, I have come to question my relationship with alcohol but never felt as if there were other people similar to me who didn’t drink but were still living normal lives and doing the usual things young people do。 This book definitely satisfied my sober curiosity and changed my opinions of sobriety and the way I now think about alcohol。 Even if you are only curious it’s very interesting to see how alcohol is ingrained in our society and to realise how harmful it really is for our bodies。 。。。more

10/10! I couldn't put this book down。 A real game changer that surpassed all expectations。 What really struck me was that Millie Gooch didn't overstep into territory she hadnt actually experienced herself (what other writers often do) - instead she turned to the experts and the research。 So well written: forward-thinking and awake and clear。 10/10! Despite it being well intentioned I stopped reading at the line: "despite the myths, there are no physical harmful side effects of masturbation"。 A slow descent into utterly patronising, shallow, tosh。 Wanted to like it more, what a shame。 Despite it being well intentioned I stopped reading at the line: "despite the myths, there are no physical harmful side effects of masturbation"。 A slow descent into utterly patronising, shallow, tosh。 Wanted to like it more, what a shame。 。。。more

Sometimes a book comes into your life at the right time—a little present from the universe when you really need it。 I’d been following Sober Girl Society on Instagram for a few months, and had been "sober curious" (without having that label for it) for around two years。 After a memorably horrible hangover in January 2019, I vowed to never get "too" drunk again。 Since then, I have had many days of mild hangovers from just one or two glasses of booze。 The value of drinking alcohol had been decreas Sometimes a book comes into your life at the right time—a little present from the universe when you really need it。 I’d been following Sober Girl Society on Instagram for a few months, and had been "sober curious" (without having that label for it) for around two years。 After a memorably horrible hangover in January 2019, I vowed to never get "too" drunk again。 Since then, I have had many days of mild hangovers from just one or two glasses of booze。 The value of drinking alcohol had been decreasing in my eyes, then, for quite some time when this book fell into my hands (well。。。 Kindle)。 Having read this book, I’ve confronted the hard truth that I don’t have any excuses anymore, and that even mild drinking doesn’t work for me。 The book’s full of scientific facts about the dangers of alcohol。 As a health-conscious person, the drawbacks of drinking are huge, and, with cancer in my family, I don’t want to take any risks with my health。 I also am notoriously bad at handling my drink and I have more embarrassing drunken stories than I can recall (just ask my friends!) What’s more, I seem to suffer hangovers worse than the average person。 They are hell。 While giving up booze can be hard to navigate (which I’m sure I will discover when Covid is past us and I begin gathering with friends again), Millie Gooch’s book is full of tips that I’ve mentally banked for later。 She’s helped me realise that I can still have lots of fun without booze, and that my life can only be improved by being sober。 And the prospect of never having a hangover again is the *best* gift to myself。 The book is accessible, fresh, and not at all preachy。 It’s part-memoir, part guidebook, with lots of other badass sober women’s stories woven into it。 Millie has successfully made sobriety cool。 I cannot recommend it enough。Thank you so much, Millie, for this life-changing book。 。。。more

I really enjoyed this book。 Having read similar books I still feel Millie's book adds something original to the conversation。 I have been sober for just over a year so there are a few events such as work parties which I have not had the chance to attend but Millie shared some amazing tips on how to navigate these as well as getting nolo drinks on a night out。 I felt the writing was really engaging and even laugh out loud funny at times。 I would recommend this book to anyone who has given up alco I really enjoyed this book。 Having read similar books I still feel Millie's book adds something original to the conversation。 I have been sober for just over a year so there are a few events such as work parties which I have not had the chance to attend but Millie shared some amazing tips on how to navigate these as well as getting nolo drinks on a night out。 I felt the writing was really engaging and even laugh out loud funny at times。 I would recommend this book to anyone who has given up alcohol or who is looking to reduce。 Hopefully one day being sober will just be as normal as not smoking! 。。。more

Brilliant read for the sober curious, wanna be mindful drinker, or anyone who’s already sober/alcohol free。 Millie has great tips, advice and shares some good research around the world of alcohol, which I still found really helpful being nearly 3 years sober/alcohol free and would have found super helpful during my early days of sobriety。 As I always say, I am not a big re-reader but this is definitely one for my re-read list!

I loved the tone of this book so much。 Told from a point of view of humour but backed up with facts and thorough research, helping give a new perspective on quitting alcohol。Loved every minute and a proud member of the Sober Girl Society。Perfect for Dry Jan, Sober October and every other month of the year!

WOW WOW WOW this is a book that every woman needs to read, no matter what age you are, or what stage you are at in your relationship with alcohol。 Hysterically funny with some heartbreaking moments, and lots of incredibly important facts that we all need to know。 I will definitely be buying this for friends and family members, and i will read again and again。

I am five months into sobriety and I LOVED this book, Millie writes in a way that you feel as if you are having a conversation with a friend, it’s really just affirmed for me that I’ve made the right decision giving up booze and I definitely learned so much from this book, I recommend everyone should read it, even if you aren’t in the slightest bit interested in giving up, it will leave you feeling very informed either way, thank you so much for writing this Millie! X。

This book is perfect for those exploring sobriety or who are already sober。 I’m coming up to a year now, but there was a lot in here that reassured me in my decision to quit drinking。 Millie made me feel a lot less isolated and covered so many important topics such as the impact of alcohol on our mind and body, as well as how to cope on nights out and have sober sex! I enjoyed this so much, I ripped through this book in a day!I’m newly sober (originally inspired by Millie actually) so I’ve been reading a lot of quit lit。 This book is the first one to address millennial women’s journey to sobriety and all the hurdles we’ll have to cross with social occasions and cultural expectation。I love that Millie wasn’t alcohol dependent, she just knew her consumption was problematic and didn’t want to be beholden to a drug anymore。 Much quit lit focuses extensively on t I enjoyed this so much, I ripped through this book in a day!I’m newly sober (originally inspired by Millie actually) so I’ve been reading a lot of quit lit。 This book is the first one to address millennial women’s journey to sobriety and all the hurdles we’ll have to cross with social occasions and cultural expectation。I love that Millie wasn’t alcohol dependent, she just knew her consumption was problematic and didn’t want to be beholden to a drug anymore。 Much quit lit focuses extensively on the alcoholic mum character which is hard to relate to when your drinking habits haven’t quite reached that point yet。I love reading work written by journalists too because it’s always full of interesting info backed by solid research。 This book really did open my eyes even further to the harm heavy drinking inflicts on our bodies and how damaging it is to us as a society。 I think this will be one I’ll continue to refer back to again and again, particularly when I have a triggering event or occasion coming up。Millie makes you feel so inspired and excited to quit drinking。 She truly emanates what it means to be living in your most authentic self and it’s hugely aspirational as a newly sober girl! 。。。more

Really helpful and encouraging。 Probably aimed at a younger audience, I’m 46, but I wouldn’t let that put anyone off as it was very well researched and put together。

Enjoyable and an important read aimed at people thinking about changing their relationship with alcohol。 For me it felt like it could of got a bit deeper into Millie’s story, was slightly ‘fluffy’ in places and was a bit like preaching to the converted。 Still an enjoyable read, and great promotion for the sober community!

As someone who has only very recently stumbled her way into sobriety。。 this book could not have landed on my door step at a better time。 Millie talks us through every possible hurdle we may encounter as we ditch the booze and she does so with facts, humour and tact。I was also really shocked to read and learn about “big alcohol” (think big pharma but more pink gin and tonics) and the unethical ways in which alcohol is strategically marketed towards marginalised groups; wow, why is this informatio As someone who has only very recently stumbled her way into sobriety。。 this book could not have landed on my door step at a better time。 Millie talks us through every possible hurdle we may encounter as we ditch the booze and she does so with facts, humour and tact。I was also really shocked to read and learn about “big alcohol” (think big pharma but more pink gin and tonics) and the unethical ways in which alcohol is strategically marketed towards marginalised groups; wow, why is this information not being screamed from the roof tops?! Tip - read the book to find out。 Millie tackles everything from your first sober wedding to activism and does so in an accessible way; something that many self help authors struggle to do。 I have taken so much from this book and will continue to revisit it in future。 Thank you Millie, for putting this out there and for giving me the tools I will need to navigate my new sober life。 I encourage anyone who has ever questioned their feelings towards alcohol to buy this book。 。。。more

Couldn’t put it down, finished in 2 days。 Supportive of sober curious readers, relatable and some good advice。 Would even read again!

something about this book made me feel younger。 Millie brings a lightness and spark to the sobriety conversation。 Something about this book also felt sweet and nostalgic, like meeting up with an old friend from primary school and reminiscing about bratz dolls。 Perhaps because her message feels like “you don’t need to ingest a toxic substance just because that’s what the grown ups used to do, we can skip that part on the way to happy ever after” 💫

I was so excited to read this book and I can say it absolutely did not disappoint。 Having a bad relationship with alcohol, sobriety is something I have toyed around with for years and years。 I've never felt strong or determined enough to do it。 After something clicking more recently, I really hoped this book would dig deeper into this feelings and give me the motivation I needed to make a transformative change in my life。 Believe me when I say it did。 For anyone considering sobriety or if they'r I was so excited to read this book and I can say it absolutely did not disappoint。 Having a bad relationship with alcohol, sobriety is something I have toyed around with for years and years。 I've never felt strong or determined enough to do it。 After something clicking more recently, I really hoped this book would dig deeper into this feelings and give me the motivation I needed to make a transformative change in my life。 Believe me when I say it did。 For anyone considering sobriety or if they're simply sober curious, I could not recommend this wonderfully written book enough。 。。。more
